Eagle Merit Program

The

This is the life cycle an eagle will experience as they develop from childhood to adulthood during the SHIELD Experience. Youth participants will venture the path of self-discovery as they earn their badges and move up in the organization based on the completion of the following stages.

Nestling

(for returning 5th - 6th Graders)

 Description

Youth participants will work in mentoring clusters to work on community initiatives such as homelessness prevention, childhood literacy, sustainable foods, etc.

Golden Eagle

(for returning 7th - 8th Graders)

 Description

Youth participants will begin to build public speaking skills and public service skills to show exemplary leadership within the community.

Bald Eagles

 Description

Youth participants will develop an entrepreneurial mindset and begin to learn how to manage money. They will present their learning by developing and presenting a mock business plan with a budget.

Participants explore their desired future and set important goals while turning talk into action by supporting positive habits.

Focus on Future Growth

Participants will focus on activities to have a better direction by connecting career and college readiness to achieve their future goals.

ENCOURAGE

Focus on Ongoing Achievement

Participants will implement plans for the future that involve the skills they explored. The program concludes with the planning and implementation of social change.

Soaring Eagle

(for returning 11th - 12th Graders)

 Description

Youth participants will serve on the youth leadership board to help direct the future of the organization. They will interact with local businesses on-site visits. Upon completion, youth participants will develop a plan for the future.
